He believes that the voice of the man that he plays in Sam Taylor-Wood’s Nowhere Boy also carried him through one of the most intense experiences in his life — not only because he fell deeply into the character of the teenage Lennon, defined by his relationships with strong, older women, but also because he fell in love with the director, Taylor-Wood, the recently divorced, 42-year-old artist-turned director who chose him for the part. He moved in with her and her children from the relationship with the art dealer Jay Jopling just after the film wrapped, and became her fiancé last month.
