Watch: Holly Miranda 'Waves' live performance

Holly Miranda makes "Waves" from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

From Brandon, Stereogum:

Brooklyn-based Holly Miranda is about to release the Dave Sitek-produced The Magician's Private Library. You might remember her name from the Jealous Girlfriends. When she opened for the xx in Italy. Or, more close to her home, for Vampire Weekend at Webster Hall. Or maybe when Kanye gave her a thumbs up. Whatever the case, her debut solo record is a good one, a dreamy, dense collection of 10 songs that showcase her achy falsetto and swooping melodies ("...a less fearful Cat Power, a more substantive Feist, a Norah Jones with actual feeling," says The NY Times in a line that assured Jon Caramanica was taken off three female vocalists' holiday mailing lists), but aren't against layering on Antibalas' horns, deep pockets of fuzz, strings upon strings, and Kyp Malone harmonies. Check out the "radio edit" -- aka one-minute shorter than the album version -- of "Waves."
