Talking to Pitchfork back in October, frontman Ryan McPhun described Fight Softly as “probably the opposite” of Sea Lion: “I used a lot more synths. And there’s a shitload of effected guitar on it. But I didn’t use a lot of live drums. Going into it, I wanted to use organic sounds but I didn’t want them to sound organic, which is the opposite of what a lot of people do. It’s safe to say the new stuff is more bass-y.” Right now, we’re getting our first taste of how the more bass-y Ruby Suns sound
